Tour Itinerary
Day1

Meet and pick up from Sandakan airport or hotel; transfer to Gomantong Cave located within the Gomantong forest reserve. Journey takes approximately 2 hours drive by land through Oil Palm Plantations and rustic countryside studded with villages. Upon arrival, walk on the plank to the cave. Explore the largest bird's nest cave in Sabah, home to millions of bats and swiftlets. The nest of the swiftlets are collected for the famous Chinese edible bird nest soup.

Continue an approximately 30 mins drive to one of the world's richest ecosystems, Lower Kinabatangan River, Sukau. Arrive at Kampung Bilit, a base for easy exploration of the incredible diversity of plants, mammals and birds. Take a short boat transfer to Sukau Bilit Rainforest Lodge. Time for orientation briefing, a welcome drink and check in. Lunch will be provided in the lodge restaurant.

At 16:00hrs, take a river cruise in search of endemic proboscis monkeys, different species of birds & other wildlife along the river bank.  One may also catch a glimpse of a wild Orang Utan, leaf monkeys, gibbons, macaques or the “Borneon Pgymy Elephants”.

At 19:00hrs, dinner at the lodge restaurant. After dinner, you can go for a complimentary night safari cruise where you can spot nocturnal animals, crocodiles and birds.

Day2

Wake up to the call of Gibbons and Hornbills at 6am. Relish in an early morning cruise on the Ox-bow Lake for some bird-watching and tranquil moments amidst the lush wilderness. You will return back to your forest lodge in the late morning for lunch and leisure time on your own. More wildlife spotting in the evening bat the Sukau Kinabatangan River Bank.

Day3

Rise & Shine, the adventure continues at your next turtle-tastic destination. Have breakfast and depart for the Sandakan Seafront Jetty at 0700hrs.

0930hrs: A speedboat will whisk you off to Selingan Turtle Island. Take in the bright brilliant blues on your 1 hour journey to the oldest turtle hatcheries in the world, also one of South East Asia's most important nesting beach and breeding ground for the Green Turtle and Hawksbill Turtle… just 40km north of Sandakan, poised on the Sulu Sea.

Check in to your basic but clean accommodation. The rest of the day you are free to stretch out by the beach or jump right into the sea for a snorkel round the nearby reefs. Dinner will be served on the Island.

A Park Ranger will give a few knocks on your chalet door to alert you when a Sea Turtle is seen to be coming ashore to lay eggs. You can also take part in the release of baby turtle hatchlings, where baby hatchling are brought by the buckets by Park Rangers to be release by the sea shore. Witness hundreds of baby sea turtles make a dash towards salty waters where they will spend the rest of their lives in.

Day4

Option A - SEPILOK ORANG UTAN
After breakfast, check out. Fuzzy Orang Utans await at the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. A half journey ushers you into the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve where rehabilitating Orang Utans roam free in a natural habitat.

A short video screening at the Nature Education Centre will then enlighten you on what goes on within the reserve. Proceed to the boardwalk amidst a lush lowland rainforest leading you to a viewing point of the feeding platform. It will be an easy 10 minutes track, well worth it as soon as you see the Orang Utans show up to grab some food. After lunch, transfer to Sandakan airport or your respective hotel. Tour ends at 13:00hrs.

Option B - SANDAKAN CITY TOUR
After breakfast, check out and proceed for Sandakan City Tour. The first stop offers panoramic views of Sandakan Bay.

The Puh Jih Syh Buddhist Temple is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Sandakan coast. After taking in the sights, enter the delectable depths of Sandakan Central Market, fresh seafood galore and the best of Sabah agriculture produce. Next up the Sim Sim Water Village. Houses painted with the most vibrant colors are built on stilts just above the water’s surface, home to a tiny local population which main income derives from fishing. After lunch, transfer to Sandakan airport or your respective hotel. Tour ends at 13:00hrs.
